India vs Afghanistan Highlights:
It’s the skipper of team India, leading a huge win over Afghanistan with an outstanding knock of 131 runs. India is looking balanced and coordinated in this tournament, from team selection to stepping up in difficult conditions, all the things seem to completely fit in their boxes.
The bowling department is intuitive in taking wickets, Bumrah is proving why he is one of the best in the world, and Rohit giving 2019 WC Campaign nostalgia to the Indian Cricket fans.
1st Innings:
Afghanistan Skipper- Shahidi won the toss and decided to bat first, so on the other side Rohit wanted to ball with thoughts of dew factors during the night.
It was a decent start by the top order of Afghanistan, they lost three wickets in a jiffy, India is looking to finish things up under a total of 200.
But the captain took responsibility and built a solid partnership with Azmatullah and scored 121 runs stand with him.
In the 35th over, Hardik bowls an off-cutter to Azmatullah, as he predetermined and tried to play with an angled line, but the ball stays in the same line and hits the off-stump after an outside edge.
So in 42nd over. Shahidi seems struggling against Kuldeep for a few overs and finally misses the shot to go for a reverse sweep and throws his wicket in the form of LBW at the score of 80(88).
Though with the help of tailenders, Afghanistan batted 50 overs and gave a decent target of 273 to chase as Bumrah restricted them by taking 4 wickets.
2nd Innings:
The target was set, Indian fans are expecting a solid start and want to forget the top-order collapse of the previous match. Slow but steady, Rohit backs himself up with his natural game and punishes Afghanistan bowlers all over the ground. Ishan was looking positive to rotate strikes and hit some shots when he got a loose ball.
The opening was moving forward with cracking boundaries more often in the innings, then Rashid took Ishan’s wicket with a Googly.
A few overs later, Rohit tries to hit a sweep across the line and totally misses it and a Googly hits the stumps. A massive inning came to an end but a good sign for the Indian fans.
Virat and Shreyas delivers the remaining work with a solid half-century by our local boy from Delhi-Virat Kohli.
Conclusion:
India is heading with positive nerves into the weekend clash with Pakistan. The bowling unit is on top, the batting is on top, and players look confident. Fans want Shubhman Gill to be fit as the venue is his second home ground (Narendra Modi Stadium) with many great knocks he played in the budding stage of his career.
Few things apart from the match
We had seen banter between Kohli and Navee-ul-haq in IPL recently, but things get comfy between Aam and Cheeku after the match. Post-match talks and gatherings showed us a glimpse of joy between them and in the end sportsmanship wins in the gentleman’s game.
